The day had already gone to shit. As soon as Dustin woke up (to the annoying sound of the birds chirping) he had stubbed his toe on his suitcase, had run out of cigarettes, was yelled at by one of the band members for who knows what, and then tripped walking down the steps of the bus. All of that, before eleven in the morning. What the fuck else could wrong? he thought to himself as he headed down the road to the lake. He cursed then. He probably just jinxed himself for the rest of the day. He figured that he would stay at the lake all day; but with his current luck, he'd probably get attacked by a shark, who magically appeared in a lake just to bite off his leg and then disappear. He didn't wouldn't doubt it.
He hadn't talked to anyone this morning, not even when he was being yelled at. He was still getting used to the people in the band and being with them all the time. Hell, he was still getting used to even trying to make friends. He had a rough start with the photographer, but they seemed pretty alright now, as long as he remembered not to flirt with her or mess with Agnus. Agnus. That was another thing that was troubling him. He wasn't going to lie, he missed her. A lot. A whole fuck of a lot. He had regretted getting her sent to a juvenile detention center for years, and he still does. But she was here, on tour, doing merchandise like he was. And to be honest, he couldn't be happier. Maybe there would even be a chance for them to get back together.
Dustin laughed ruefully at the thought. No, of course there wasn't; not after what he had put her through. He reluctantly pushed her out of his mind as he saw the water up ahead. He was sure that Agnus had other things to worry about than him, anyway; so for the time being he would sit back, relax, and flirt with whomever he wanted when he wanted. He would go out a party like he had been planning to do, but that was for a different day. It was roughly noon time when he finally got to the lake, and he grinned slightly to himself. He couldn't wait to jump into the fresh, clear water. All he wanted to do was relax.
Sure, he could have gone to the pool. But the pool was usually always mobbed with people this time of year; so he opted for the lake instead. It was silent, only the sounds of the birds flapping their wings and bugs buzzing around being audible. He enjoyed the silence. Usually he wasn't one to be in settings such as this; but with a day that had already gone sour, he preferred it. He wondered then if anyone else would show up here, and maybe he could try to make a friend. He snorted. Of course he wouldn't make a friend. People didn't usually like him as soon as they saw him. Why, he hadn't the slightest idea. Maybe he was one of those people who just instantly gave off a bad vibe.
Dustin stood there on a small patch of sand for a moment, just looking out at the water. It was so calming just looking at it. He kicked off his black DC sneakers and his socks, then took off his shirt in one quick movement. His swimming trunks were all black with a white skull on the bottom left. He set down his new package of cigarettes and his lighter on his shirt, looking out at the water again. Then, as if making a sudden life or death decision, he ran into the water and dived. The water was cold - but with the current weather it felt so good. He came back up out of the water, pushed the hair from his eyes, and began to float on his back, his dazzling blue eyes reflecting the clear sky above.
